Margaret Verguldi

Margaret Serves serves as the President of the Board at Save the Schuylkill, spearheading all organizational leadership. Her responsibilities include orchestrating events, promoting educational awareness, nurturing community connections, and meticulously managing day-to-day operations.

Margaret Grew up and has lived on the Schuylkill river her whole life. She spent her childhood exploring the Schuylkill, being raised with a love for life the Schuylkill river provides.
Margaret is a jack of all trades. In her Professional life she is a Medical Biller, Massage therapist, and a Bartender. You can find her in Phoenixville serving up some Cold Brews at Rec room by Conshohocken brewery. When she’s not working she enjoys kayaking,hiking, photography, live music and spending time with her dog Luna Lovegood.
She Hopes that the efforts of this organization can help keep the river clean enough for future generations to be raised as she was, with a deep love for the Schuylkill.
Vice President

Chris Labarre

Chris founded Save the Schuylkill as the culmination of a 20+ year dream to make our little section of the world a better place to enjoy nature and associated aquatic activities to be had on

Chris founded Save the Schuylkill as the culmination of a 20+ year dream to make our little
section of the world a better place to enjoy nature and associated aquatic activities to be had on
the Schuylkill River. He serves as Vice President to help build a community around making the
health and viability of our waterway a fun and easier endeavor.
His highest priority is always his children and a core belief is that we live through story and
always set an example, hopefully a great example! For over 16 years, Chris has run C.J.’s
Pianos and has ambitions to bring community together in fun ways through music and the
outdoors.
Secretary

Bea Arner

Bea joined Save the Schuylkill in early 2024 and serves as as the Secretary of the board to save Schuylkill. Her responsibilities include Record Keeping, Day-to-day operations, promoting educational awareness and Making connections with the community.

During her typical “9 to 5,” Bea is a Promotions Specialist with main focuses on graphic design, social media marketing and program development. Prior to her current professional role, she worked closely with small businesses and non-profit organizations at her hometown Chamber of Commerce. Her experience at the Chamber furthered her “shop small and support local” mentality and commitment to the community.

Although she’s still fairly new to the area, Bea’s excited to be involved with the organization and support its goals and mission.

Treasurer

Anthony Firrantello

Anthony serves as Treasurer on the Board of Save the Schuylkill. He helps the board make financial decisions with the best interest of Save the Schuylkill. His affinity for the river began when he was in high school fishing Lock 60.

His affinity for the river began when he was in high school fishing Lock 60. It continued into adult life. He now lives close to another side of the Schuylkill with his wife and daughter. He currently works as a financial planner at a prominent firm. He got involved to help restore and preserve the river so his future family can enjoy it as well.

Marketing

Luke Eccles

Luke, Director of Marketing and founding board member at Save the Schuylkill, is tasked with crafting marketing content, overseeing website management, cultivating relationships, and aiding in public speaking engagements.

Luke, Director of Marketing and founding board member at Save the Schuylkill, is tasked with crafting marketing content, overseeing website management, cultivating relationships, and aiding in public speaking engagements. His passion for the river blossomed during numerous paddling trips alongside his pug mix, Koi; and upon experiencing the health benefits it provides after losing 70lbs from kayaking.

With a robust marketing background, Luke also owns a local business, Red Bearding Marketing where he helps small businesses with their advertising. In his spare time, he channels his creativity as a musician in Sun Blind, boasting multiple album releases, and posts entertaining social media content.

He owns Red Bearded Marketing where he helps small businesses owners. His marketing experience comes from being a musician in the Philly area. He has multiple album releases under Awaking Mercury & his current project Sun Blind. You can find his content probably anywhere online.
