August 26th 2023 Cleanup Event Plans
Thank you so much for helping us clean the Schuylkill River on Saturday, August 26. Here is our itinerary and required items for the day. Pertinent addresses are at the bottom of this email so they’re easier to find.
7:30 AM – Volunteers with watercraft drop off at Lock 60 vessels, paddles, life vests – everything you plan to take on the water – Before proceeding to check-in
8AM – Registration at Longford Park and Safety brief – park your vehicle across the street at Graphical Packing International, near the dedicated cleanup dumpsters
9AM – Cleanup Begins! River Crews shuttle to Lock 60 compliments of Save the Schuylkill
12-2PM – Cleanup crews arrive at Port Providence and begin filling dumpsters
Everyone on the river must have:
- Life Vest
- Whistle
- Close Toed Shoes (No Sandals/Flip-Flops)
- Filled Reusable Water Bottle
- Boat/Paddle Board
- Paddle
- Backpack
- Snacks
- Sunscreen/Sunglasses
Land Crew must have:
- Close toed shoes
- Filled Reusable Water Bottle
- Backpack to carry trash bags
- Snacks
- Sunscreen/Sunglasses
Optional Items – tools that might help do the work:
- Litter grabber
- Rake
- Rope/Twine
- Towel and Extra Pair of dry clothes and shoes for the event end
What we provide: waivers, whistles, safety instructions, gloves, trash bags, safety vests, sunscreen, insect repellent, litter grabbers and pickers, transportation to Lock 60 after check in.
